Job Summary
Position Summary:
The AB Deckhand is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of vessels by performing a variety of tasks related to the upkeep maintenance and general operation of the vessel and its equipment. This position involves physical labor adherence to safety protocols and teamwork to ensure smooth day-to-day marine operations. AB Deckhands assist with docking and undocking line handling vessel cleaning cargo operations and lookout duties. This role may also include assisting passengers or crew and responding to emergency situations as directed by the Captain or senior crew.
Key Responsibilities:
Handle lines and secure vessels and barges
Assist with towing dredging and construction support operations
Perform general vessel maintenance and cleaning
Operate deck equipment and tools safely
Stand lookout or navigational watches as directed
Work as part of a team to maintain safe and efficient operations
Qualifications:
- TWIC card (required)
- MMC W/ Able-Bodied Seafarer Rating (required)
- STCW Preferred
- Join Masters Mates And Pilots Union (required)
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights weekends extended hitches offshore and emergency call-outs
