About theunit

9 North ACE unit is a 29-bed specialty unit for the care of medical patients 65 years old and older. We take care of a variety of patients with medical conditions and co-morbidities. We specializeinthe acute care of the addition to being a Magnet hospital our staff are NICHE (Nurses Improving Care forHealthSystemElders) training is provided to our staff in the care of geriatric patients. Through NICHE all our nurses are Geriatric Resource Nurse (GRN)trainedand all our nursing assistants (NAs) and clinical assistants (CAs) are Geriatric Patient Care Associate (GPCA) trained. We have a very dynamic unit with a diverse staff that provides a unique environment of compassionate care which alsoprovidesa huge opportunityoflearning and professional growth.

Scope ofwork

Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher dispatchservicesandappropriate documentationof services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation either in person or via remote video monitoring to maximize his/her general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing of care provided in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • Previoushospital or nursing home experiencepreferred

  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Supportrequired

  • Current CNA certificationpreferred
