6th Grade Social Studies Teacher

Ashland Public Schools is seeking a passionate collaborative and student-centered educator to join our team as a 6th Grade Social Studies Teacher at Ashland Middle School.

Ashland Middle School serves approximately 680 students in grades 68 and is committed to creating an engaging inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student is challenged to grow academically socially and emotionally. We are looking for an educator who builds strong relationships with students fosters curiosity about history and the world and creates meaningful learning experiences that encourage critical thinking collaboration and civic engagement.

The successful candidate will work as an integral member of a grade-level team and collaborate closely with colleagues special educators specialists and families to ensure all students are supported and challenged.

Candidates for consideration must possess:

• Massachusetts DESE licensure in History (512) or appropriate licensure for middle school social studies
• Bachelors degree required
• Knowledge of the Massachusetts History and Social Science Curriculum Frameworks
• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
• Experience working collaboratively within a team-based middle school model preferred
• Knowledge of differentiated instruction Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inclusive instructional practices preferred

• Plan and deliver engaging standards-based instruction aligned with the Massachusetts History and Social Science Curriculum Frameworks.
• Create a classroom environment that promotes inquiry critical thinking collaboration and respectful discussion.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic social and emotional needs of middle school learners.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies and assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
• Collaborate with grade-level teachers special educators English learner staff counselors and administrators to support student success.
• Maintain timely and accurate student records grades and communication with families.
• Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) team meetings and ongoing professional development.
• Foster positive relationships with students and families while maintaining high expectations for academic achievement and citizenship.
• Contribute positively to the school community through collaboration flexibility and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the Ashland School Committee and the Ashland Educators Association.
