  • This is a 1.0 FTE position as a 4th Grade Teacher at Vinton Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. Applicants must hold a current Indiana Elementary Generalist license covering grades K-6. Applicants enrolled in an IDOE approved Transition to Teaching program in the area of Elementary Education will also be considered. Please complete a certified EXTERNAL application through the employment link of the LSC website. Vinton Elementary is located in Lafayette just one hour north of downtown Indianapolis and two hours south of downtown Chicago along I -65 in west central Indiana. Vinton serves over 400 students and operates on a 4-Day work week Monday through Thursday and select Fridays. Lafayette is a growing city with a strong economic base. The Greater Lafayette Area is the home of Purdue University and the presence of the university helps to make Lafayette one of the greatest places to live in the Midwest.

    Position Summary

    The Lafayette School Corporation is seeking a highly effective student-centered educator to serve as a 4th Grade Teacher at Vinton Elementary School for the 2026ï½2027 school year.

    The successful candidate will provide engaging standards-aligned instruction in English Language Arts mathematics science and social studies while fostering a positive classroom environment where all students are challenged and supported to achieve their full potential. The ideal candidate is committed to building strong relationships with students and families collaborating with colleagues and using data to inform instruction.

    As a fourth grade teacher the selected candidate will help students strengthen foundational skills while preparing them for the increased academic expectations of the upper elementary grades. This includes guiding students as they develop critical thinking problem-solving independence and organizational skills. The teacher will create meaningful learning experiences that encourage curiosity perseverance and confidence while supporting each students academic social and emotional growth.

    The ideal candidate will be passionate about elementary education skilled at differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs and dedicated to working as part of a collaborative school team focused on continuous improvement and student success.

    Qualifications

    • Valid Indiana Elementary Generalist (Kï½6) teaching license
    • Candidates enrolled in an approved Transition to Teaching program or eligible for an Indiana Emergency Permit in Elementary Education will be considered
    • Strong knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards and best instructional practices
    • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
    • Effective classroom management and communication skills
    • Commitment to collaboration and continuous professional growth
    • Experience integrating technology into instruction preferred

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Deliver high-quality instruction in all core academic subjects for 4th grade students
    • Create a safe inclusive and engaging classroom environment
    • Assess student learning and use data to guide instruction
    • Differentiate instruction to support varying student needs and abilities
    • Collaborate with grade-level teams instructional coaches and support staff
    • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities
    • Participate in professional development staff meetings and school initiatives
    • Maintain accurate records in accordance with district and state requirements

    About Vinton Elementary School

    Vinton Elementary School located at 3101 Elmwood Avenue Lafayette Indiana 47904 has a student population of close to 470 students in grades Kindergarten through Fourth Grade.

    Our beautiful building is divided into individual grade level classroom groupings that we call Pods. Each pod with the exception of Kindergarten has four classrooms. All of the classrooms are filled with educational materials and examples of student classrooms also contain a variety of technology that can access information from virtually anywhere and bring it right to our students fingertips.


    In addition to the core curricular areas our students also receive instruction in Art Music Physical Education and Media Services each week. Lafayette School Corporation is known state and nationwide for our amazingfine arts and athletic interest and commitment begins at the elementary leveland continues throughout our students educational career. Many of our students have been recognized for their performances through these special classroom opportunities.

    Technology has an important place within our walls. All of our K-4th grade students benefit from the one-to-one initiative where each student has his/her own iPad to use at school. All of our students benefit from a variety of technology resources: BenQ boards document cameras iPad apps AppleTV and more.

    Vinton is a Title I School which means we receive federal funding to support reading and math instruction. We use this money to hire additional teachers support staff technology and materials to help our students reach their goals. Mrs. Yuill is our lead Title I teacher.

    Student medical concerns are handled by a full time nurse on site each day. Our nursecan be contacted at school for any medical issues that might arise during the school year.

    We are fortunate to have Read to Succeed volunteers through United Wayeach week. A variety of local organizations also provide mentors for our students who need a little extra adult attention throughout their school day.
