Summary

Perform any of the duties of the Lineman/Linewoman-Grade I and in addition perform assigned supervisory duties and direct the work in the field of a small overhead line group in the construction operation maintenance and removal of the transmission and distribution overhead plant.

Job Responsibilities
  • Act as leader of assigned work group; lay out and direct the work of employees in the group
  • Be responsible for the general condition of assigned truck tools and equipment.
  • Conduct the work assigned so that the employees and the public are properly safeguarded at all times.
  • Follow up and check the work of the employees in the group
  • Report any abnormal conditions that develop during the progress of the work.
  • Perform the duties of Lineman/Linewoman-Grade 1.
  • Prepare records of work performed under his/her direction.
  • Perform other similar or less skilled work of the occupational group.
Job Qualifications

Must meet the Companys General Requirements; must have all the qualifications of Lineman/Linewoman-Grade 1 and in addition must:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • Have had one and one-half years experience as Lineman/Linewoman-Grade 1.
  • Have a thorough practical knowledge of the purpose and functioning of the overhead transmission and distribution system and the electrical apparatus used in connection therewith; and a good knowledge of the layout of the transmission and distribution circuits in the area in which he/she works.
  • Possess a good working knowledge of the Companys manuals and handbooks related to overhead line construction methods and practices.
  • Have the ability to recognize and appraise hazardous conditions and be able to take steps to safeguard effectively employees and the public.
  • Have a good working knowledge of the procedure and rules governing the ordering out tagging and releasing of circuits and the Companys system of circuit designation for identification.
  • Be able to prepare accurate and concise reports concerning the progress of the work.
  • Have the ability to supervise others.
  • Have the ability to exercise good judgment in the handling and coordination of the work.
  • Be able to read and interpret sketches and drawings related to the assigned line construction work.
  • Have the characteristics of accuracy and reliability necessary for recording field data in connection with the work and must be able to write legibly in making reports.
  • Be able to make clear and concise reports by telephone or radio telephone.
  • Be cooperative be able to command the respect and confidence of associates and be able to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner.
  • Must possess a U.S. drivers license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
