2nd Shift Construction Diesel Technician Responsibilities:
1. Mechanical Diagnostics & Repair:
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines hydraulic systems electrical systems and transmissions.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical issues and make data-driven repairs.
2. Preventive Maintenance:
- Perform scheduled PMs on construction equipment and fleet vehicles to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment life.
- Conduct inspections of tires fluid levels filters and wear components using checklists and OEM guidelines.
3. Field Service & Emergency Repairs:
- Respond to equipment breakdowns on job sites and perform field-based repairs quickly and safely.
- Communicate with operators and supervisors to assess issues and determine repair priorities.
4. Equipment Variety & Versatility:
- Maintain and repair a wide range of equipment including:
- Excavators dozers loaders pavers rollers dump trucks trailers and company trucks.
- Flex between shop work and field support based on operational needs.
5. Documentation & Safety Compliance:
- Accurately record maintenance activities inspections and parts used in service software or paper logs.
- Follow safety protocols PPE requirements and company policies at all times.
- Support DOT and OSHA compliance through proper recordkeeping and safe practices.
