Job Summary

Job Title: Head Cheer Coach

Salary Grade: $8000/season

Department: Athletics

Reports To: Athletic Director/ Building Principal

Position Summary:

Provide leadership for the schools athletic program through the continuous development implementation and enhancement of the sport(s) assigned while promoting student-athlete growth program excellence and alignment with district goals and expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide leadership in team dynamics according to MSHSAA standards for the activity of Sideline Cheer;
  2. Implement and enforce activity standards as outlined in the MSHSAA Handbook and attend all MSHSAA required sessions for sponsors;
  3. Plan and administer Assistant Sponsor responsibilities;
  4. Plan activities that support schools athletic teams;
  5. Cheer/Dance Team participate in all Girls/Boys JV/Varsity home contests in basketball football and volleyball
    1. Plans should be made for the team to support soccer baseball track cross country and swim in either promotion or cheer section during contests or events;
  6. Assist in the coordination of the program;
  7. Responsible for student supervision at practices and contests;
  8. Coordinate with athletic team Head Coach for transportation and game management;
  9. Assume responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used and inspect all athletic equipment and facilities (verify inventory) and submit documentation to Athletic Director;
  10. Organize and schedule practice sessions on a regular basis with the objective of developing the student-participants greatest potential;
  11. Emphasize safety precautions and be aware of the best training and injury management procedures;
  12. Conduct team and self in an ethical manner during practices and contests always exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship;
  13. See that regulations governing building use and hours are understood and enforced;
  14. Arrange for the systematic return of all school equipment maintain a correct inventory and hold the student-participant responsible for all equipment not returned in accordance with the KCMSD Athletic Department Handbook;
  15. Maintain records of team and individual accomplishments and arrange for the issuance of

letters and special awards. All information will be turned into the Athletic Director within two weeks after the completion of the season;

  1. Work with the site-based Athletic Director to provide a solid program;
  2. Continue professional growth through clinics and professional publications;
  3. Must complete MSHSAA Coaching Principles Course and First Aid Requirement;
  4. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Student-participants

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have a Teachers Certificate or valid Substitute Certificate or Temporary (provisional) Teachers Certificate.

Length of work year: 10 months
