Teacher of the Deaf
Full-Time Non-Exempt Location: First Children School Plainfield NJ Compensation: $69000-$80000/annually

First Children School is looking for a compassionate dedicated and experienced Teacher of the Deaf to join our this rewarding role youll work directly with students with special needs providing individualized instruction support and encouragement to help them reach their full potential in the classroom and beyond.

Youll work closely with classroom staff therapists and families to create a supportive and engaging educational environment for students who are deaf or hard of hearing and have diverse learning needs. Responsibilities may include developing lesson plans aligned with student IEPs providing specialized instruction implementing appropriate accommodations and behavioral strategies training classroom assistants to provide one-to-one support and participating in annual reviews and team meetings. Youll help students build communication skills confidence independence and academic success in a safe and positive learning environment.

A bachelors degree or higher in Special Education or Early Childhood Education is required along with a NJ Teacher of the Deaf Certification and a minimum of two years of teaching experience working with children. Candidates must also be able to read write and communicate effectively in English.
First Children School is a New Jersey Department of Educationapproved private special education school serving students from PreK through high school with multiple disabilities and complex educational and medical needs. Our students may be medically fragile developmentally intellectually or physically disabled as well as deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired.
