Job Summary

Lewis Central Community School District is looking foran Evening Custodial Supervisor to help with supervision of the buildings and custodial staff in the evenings. This position is a full-time full-yearworkingsupervisorpositionthat willsupervise and work alongside the evening custodial staff fortheir assignedbuildings. Experience as a custodian and in supervising others is strongly preferred.

Summary

  • Maintains the Districts school facilities in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program. Oversees evening custodial operations including staff supervision performance evaluations routine and preventative maintenance building security and seasonal grounds work while providing operational support to facility visitors and district emergencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
  • Provides flexibility in own schedule so as to accommodate building activities building supervision and subordinate issues.
  • Assists visiting public in utilizing the facilities and in obtaining and setting up needed equipment and/or materials.
  • Assumes and/or assigns responsibility for building and grounds security during each shift worked
  • Performs ongoing preventative maintenance and minor repair for the following but not limited to: plumbing electrical equipment custodial equipment ventilation building structure and hardware as needed daily.
  • Cleans and preserves designated spaces equipment the building and on the grounds daily.
  • Maintains inventory of custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment daily and reports needs to Facility Manager(s).
  • Reports any maintenance custodial or staff issues to Facility Manager(s) daily as needed.
  • Evaluates performance monitors timesheets for evening custodial staff.
  • Assists with performance evaluations for evening custodial staff.
  • Prepares various reports as directed daily.
  • Coordinates and assists with seasonal grounds work (snow removal mowing etc.) for facilities as needed.
  • May be asked to perform district-wide support services in case of emergency situations.
  • May be asked to assist in supervising buildings and grounds staff and events on weekends.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directs and supervises all evening custodial staff
  • Is responsible for following the Progressive Discipline procedures working with the Facility Manager ensure proper steps are being followed
  • Reviews approves and submits evening custodial staffs timesheet and leave requests.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and
  • 1-2 years managerial experience
  • 1-2 years facilities/ground maintenance experience or a related field preferably in a school setting

Hours/Schedule:This position is scheduled for 8.5 hours per day with a 1/2 hour unpaid lunch hours may be frequently requiredand requested by the Buildings and Grounds addition to their regularly scheduled shift this position may be asked to work events (usually held during evening or weekend hours) for any building in the District outside of their normal working hours.

Rate of pay:The current base rate forfacility managersis $17.00 per hour. Depending on previous work experience or any relatable education or certifications you may hold this rate could increase by $2.00 more per hour. Final determination ofapplicants individual starting pay rate will be determined bythe Business Office/HR.

A $30000 life insurance policy at no cost to the employeeand have the ability to enroll in a few supplemental insurance programs (vision accident/critical illness). All employees are automatically enrolled from day one in the state sponsored retirement program IPERS. The District contributes 9.44% ofemployeeswages to this. IPERS requires thatemployees contribute 6.29% of their wages.

Paid Leaves/Holidays:The District offers both paid sick leave paid personal leave and paid vacation leave for this position. This position has 8 paid holidays; 4th of July Labor Day Thanksgiving Day and the day following Christmas Day New Years Day Good Friday and Memorial Day.
