2026-27 Building Substitute

Breakthrough Public Schools (BPS) is seeking Building Substitutes for the 2026-27 school at Breakthrough Public Schools is a rewarding experience where dedicated staff work to impact more than 3000 students across 10 tuition-free schools serving grades K-8. We provide opportunities for educators to grow as professionals and build leadership skills to expand their impact in the classroom within their school or in the Breakthrough network.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Support the schools mission philosophies values goals and policies toward students parents/guardians and coworkers.
• Interact frequently and respectfully with children.
• Deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum and instruction which reflects observations and goals of individual children.
• Establish a classroom culture of high expectations and no excuses that includes college preparation for all children.
• Work with the faculty and school leadership to frequently examine student data for ongoing refinement of instruction and assessment.
• Share best practices with other teachers and collaborate with them to improve instructional and assessment practices.
• Keep the classroom environment organized attractive and safe.
• Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

• Bachelors degree preferred
• High School Diploma accepted

Licensure and Certification(s):

• Valid OH substitute teaching certificate/license or must be in the process of obtaining a valid OH substitute teaching certificate/license in subject area to be taught

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

• Passionate about urban education and our mission
• Highly qualified in content area and/or grade level
• Maintain a professional and no excuses attitude
• Receptive to feedback and desire to grow professionally
• Has the work ethic and desire to go above and beyond
• Highly organized

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Performs work in an office setting with moderate levels of noise sitting for long periods of time repetitive motion using computers and phones with exposure to fluorescent lighting
