Job ID:5802573 Starting Date:Jul 1 2026 Vacancy 2026-2027 Job Title:Special Education Teacher - Post High Exceptional Learners Launch Program Reports To: Mrs. Jennifer Matheny and Directors of Special Education (Augusta Waynesboro Staunton) FLSA Status: Exempt SUMMARY Teaches subjects focused on the post-secondary transition provides IEP services to studentswith moderate to severe disability. Also acts as an IEP case manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Valid certification to meet State requirements with specific endorsement in the area in which assigned. Applicant must have good health and no disqualifying physical or emotional handicaps. Evidence of fitness to teach from the standpoint of health may be required from a qualified physician. Applicant who has had teaching experience must have an acceptable rating for such teaching Bachelors degree (B. A.) from four-year accredited College or university Considered Highly Qualified possess an active Virginia Teaching License with appropriate endorsement in the area(s) for which they are teaching. LANGUAGE SKILLS Demonstrates command of Standard English both spoken and written Ability to read analyze and interpret professional journals. Ability to write reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers parents students and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
