JOB POSTINGJob Title: Teacher on Special AssignmentReports To: Building Principal and/or Director of Student ServicesPosition Summary:The Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) is a school-based instructional and compliance role responsible for coordinating districtwide Section 504 services supporting special education compliance and providing evidence-based literacy interventions for students in grades K5. This position ensures compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and applicable Ohio Administrative Code requirements. Responsibilities include supporting the implementation and monitoring of special education processes and documentation collaborating with staff and families regarding student accommodations and services and assisting administrators in maintaining compliance with state and federal addition the TOSA supports student achievement through structured literacy instruction delivered within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework including providing direct small-group reading instruction to identified Qualifications:Valid Ohio teaching license in appropriate area (e.g. Early Childhood Elementary Reading Endorsement Intervention Specialist or related field).Knowledge of Section 504 ADA IDEA and Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities (preferred).Demonstrated experience in structured literacy reading intervention and assessment-driven with MTSS/RTI frameworks and progress monitoring understanding of evidence-based instructional practices aligned with Ohio Learning communication collaboration and organizational to interpret and use multiple data sources to guide instructional and compliance Duties and Responsibilities:Section 504 Coordination and Compliance SupportDevelop write and revise Section 504 Accommodation Plans in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act ADA and Ohio Department of Education and Workforce or coordinate Section 504 evaluations using multiple sources of data including classroom performance interventions assessments and staff/family implementation of 504 accommodations with fidelity and maintain required documentation in accordance with district procedures and Ohio compliance student progress and review 504 plans annually or as needed based on student guidance to staff regarding appropriate accommodations modifications and procedural as a district representative at Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as available in compliance with IDEA and Ohio Operating the implementation and monitoring of special education processes and documentationAssisting administrators in maintaining compliance with state and federal regulationsMaintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and district Intervention and Instruction (K5)Provide explicit systematic and evidence-based reading instruction aligned with the Ohio Learning Standards for English Language Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions within the districts MTSS/RTI framework using research-based instructional universal screening diagnostic assessments and progress monitoring tools to inform instructional implement and adjust individualized intervention plans based on student data and response to and document student progress toward measurable literacy with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction accommodations and literacy strategies across all content implementation of the districts structured literacy or science of reading initiatives as Data Use and MTSS SupportParticipate in building-level MTSS team meetings and contribute to data-based problem solving and decision academic and behavioral data to identify student needs and recommend appropriate regularly with teachers administrators and families regarding student progress supports and instructional fidelity of intervention implementation and assist in documenting intervention Environment:School-based setting with responsibilities across classrooms and intervention collaboration with general education staff intervention teams administrators and require flexibility in scheduling to support intervention blocks and team : To Be Determined based on experience and the Board-adopted salary scheduleContract Days: 183 daysStart Date: August 17 2026Date Posted: May 15 2026Deadline for Applications: June 1 2026If you are interested please submit letter of interest and resume electronically to:Mrs. Angie Carpenter Director of Academics and Student
