The job of Laundry is done for the purpose/s of providing laundry service for school campuses; receiving sorting cleaning and delivering laundry.
This job reports to Transportation Director
Essential Functions
- Collects/receives laundry for the purpose of sorting cleaning and distributing appropriate facilities.
- Maintains inventory of laundry supplies and equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items as needed.
- Maintains laundry equipment (e.g. washing machines dryers etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment required to complete work in a safe and orderly working environment.
- Maintains records for the purpose of documenting activities and providing an audit trail for future reference.
- Prepares laundry (e.g. sorts folds etc.) for the purposes of ensuring items are cleaned properly.
- Processes laundry (e.g. cleaning drying etc.) for the purpose of providing laundry services to schools and District facilities.
- Responds to inquiries for the purpose of providing requested information and/or direction.
- Transports laundry to appropriate facilities for the purpose of picking up and delivering laundry.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform single non-technical tasks using existing skills. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include; adhering to safety practices; operating equipment used in a laundry setting; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and working as part of a team.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform the basic math; understand written procedures write routine documents and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: laundry operations.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; collate data; and use basic job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with data utilizing specific defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with specific job-related data; and utilize a specific job related working with others problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: meeting deadlines and schedules; communicating with diverse groups; and working as part of a team.
Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; providing information and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the jobs functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the Organizations services.
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling; some stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 33% sitting 34% walking and 33% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and a generally hazard free environment.
Experience Job related experience is desired.
Education High School diploma or equivalent.
