License Requirement for Paraprofessionals
All paraprofessional applicants must possess an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or a Paraprofessional License.
Candidates who do not yet meet the full requirements may apply for a Short-Term Approval license. This temporary license is valid for three years and allows the individual to work.
The minimum educational requirement for all paraprofessional candidates is a high school diploma or its equivalent.
