Job Summary
Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria Virginia and Orlando Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning design infrastructure management technical consulting engineering and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army Air Force Navy Marine Corps) missions along with other US federal agencies all over the world.
We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor/Cost Manager who will be responsible for the preparation of Bills of Quantities (BoQs) engineering cost estimates and the planning control and monitoring of construction project costs and budgets. You will provide strong technical expertise in cost management market based pricing and financial control to ensure projects are delivered efficiently accurately and in line with contractual and market requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and detailed engineering cost estimates based on current marketrates.
- Develop manage and control project budgets and cost plans throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor construction costs and expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Support procurement processes including bid evaluations variations and cost negotiations.
- Provide cost advice forecasts and reporting to project teams and key stakeholders.
- Ensure cost management practices comply with contractual frameworks including FIDIC based
- contracts where applicable.
Qualifications to be successful in the role:
- Bachelors degree in civil or structural engineering with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience or a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering Architecture Electrical Engineering with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of BoQs engineering estimates and budget control.
- Experience in international engineering costing particularly under FIDIC contracts is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- In depth knowledge of construction market rates and cost structures
- High attention to detail and strong cost control capability
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams
- Strong reporting communication and stakeholder engagement skills
