Description

Protection Coordinator would manage Protection from Violence team activities in the East Area Office including such areas as Dnipropetrovska Zaporizka and Donetska cooperation with Protection from Violence Project Manager Protection Coordinator will be involved in the planning implementation and reporting activities of the team to lead the team to the identified targets represent team in the internal and external coordination platforms coordinate efforts with other departments of East Area Office. Protection from Violence (PfV) encompasses tasks such as protection monitoring at community and household level provision of specialised responses through Individual Protection Assistance (IPA) through cash or in-kind support and supporting cases through referrals both internally to NRC teams and externally to service providers in accordance with NRC Country Offices strategic and policy framework.



Responsibilities

Generic Responsibilities

  1. Line management responsibilities for directly reporting staff. This includes the:

    • Performance management process; setting clear goals aligned to country strategy and priorities and to follow up and support staffs achievement.

    • Responsible for key processes as workforce planning recruitment staff induction and development and ensure Duty of Care for own staff

  2. Ensure compliance with NRC (global and national) policies and procedures handbooks and guidelines and/or propose new initiatives to bridge gaps and implement these.

  3. Contribute in the develops systems and SOPs and makes sure they are implemented accordingly.

  4. Identify analyse and evaluate key processes and gaps in the team activities and make recommendations for improvement.

  5. Develop strong working relationships with local authorities civil society NGOs and other key stakeholders including representing NRC in meetings as appropriate.

  6. Ensure adherence to NRC policies tools handbooks and guidelines.

  7. Support in the roll-out of a needs assessment in target areas in East Ukraine including border regions and other potentially insecure environments.

  8. Maintain up-to-date service mapping and referral pathways for individuals identified in need of assistance.

  9. Work with PM to ensure capacity building of all staff in line with work & development plans.

  10. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management including timely reporting on programmatic and contextual issues. Ensure proper data protection of sensitive information at field level development and maintenance of databases filing of documents in line with data protection protocols. Compliance and adherence to NRC policies guidance and procedures (if a function role) and a specific responsibility for the functions policies and procedures.

Specific responsibilities:

  1. Supervision of the PfV team including weekly operations and performance management as required.

  2. Support the implementation of NRCs Protection Policy and global protection standards within Country Office through working with programme management.

  3. Develop strong working relationships at the Country Office level Area East level and field level with external protection actors and referral partners. Represent NRC at the field level in protection coordination meetings. Support the development of multisectoral coordination mechanisms at local level in line with PfV strategy and national legal frameworks

  4. Support in project management including budgeting to ensure targets and expenditures are appropriately planned and implemented in line with NRC policies and internal work plans.

  5. Lead on stakeholder meetings and community participation and/or consultation processes with IDPs returnees and host communities

  6. Support the development of protection tools and guidance and continually update protection action plans to ensure integrated and safe programming.

  7. Produce regular context analysis updates on key protection trends and contribute to program development discussions.

  8. Develop the detailed implementation plan fieldwork plan updating of the procurement trackers and develop and update the spending plan.

  9. Share regular updates and project progress reports and contribute to the development of donor reports.

  10. Build partnerships with local organizations fostering their capacity to support community-driven protection initiatives.

  11. Facilitate regular team meetings and performance reviews to enhance staff motivation and performance.



Qualifications
  • Understanding of the humanitarian and protection principles and strong commitment in ensuring their observation in daily field activities

  • Documented results related to the positions responsibilities

  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts

  • Experience working in coordination and liaising with external actors

  • Good reporting skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook

  • Good knowledge of English both written and verbal

  • Previous experience working in humanitarian projects
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the local context including socio-cultural political security and humanitarian situation
  • Knowledge of global protection standards and relevant bodies of international law
