Software Development Engineer, Alexa for Shopping

Key job responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer II you will:

- Design implement and deliver scalable software components that power next-generation conversational shopping experiences.
- Take full ownership of the software development lifecycle - from technical design and coding through - Write clean reliable and efficient code that meets high standards for quality performance and maintainability.
- Partner closely with product managers designers applied scientists and other engineers to translate product ideas into technical deliverables.
- Contribute to the long-term technical vision and architecture for conversational and AI-powered experiences.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and integrate them where they add customer or developer value.
- Mentor other engineers through code reviews design sessions and hands-on collaboration.
- Participate in architecture reviews design discussions and sprint planning to continuously improve team effectiveness.
- Identify and drive automation or process improvements that enhance reliability developer velocity and overall product quality.
- Support the teams services through participation in on-call rotations ensuring system stability and fast resolution of production issues.
- Proactively assess risks and implement safeguards to maintain a secure and resilient infrastructure.

- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java C or C# including object-oriented design
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

- Experience with full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
