JOB Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION Birmingham

TERM Permanent

SALARY Competitive dependent on experience

My client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the concept and detailed design of mechanical and electromechanical products.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
Degree qualified Engineer with a minimum of 5 years industry experience
Proven ability in one of the leading 3D CAD modelling packages ideally Creo
Experience of designing with both metals and plastic materials
Good experience in working with electromechanical products
Knowledge/experience in concept design work
Knowledge of rotating components such as bearings seals gears and pulleys would be advantageous
Excellent knowledge of GD&Ts
Experience in DFMEA and DFM
Ability to work from first principles in concept design work utilising strong problem-solving skills

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
Assisting in the design of a range of engine ancillaries including oil water and fuel pumps
Concept and detailed design
Working from first principles to support concept design activities and problem solving
Working alongside the engineering team to ensure designs are optimised for manufacture
Liaising with the design team and Chief Engineer to resolve design issues
Creating CAD models and engineering drawing layouts
Producing engineering reports
Liaising with customers internal departments and external suppliers
Supporting the successful delivery of design projects through collaboration with key stakeholders
