Amtek Engineering is looking for a practical hands on part time IT and Systems Support Assistant to help support our day to day office IT requirements.
This is a varied role for someone who enjoys solving problems helping people keeping equipment working properly and making systems easier for a small team to use.
The role will mainly be office based as many tasks require someone to be physically present. Days and times can be flexible but weekly attendance on site will be required.
We already have a good working relationship with an external IT provider for higher level IT requirements. This role will work alongside them helping with practical on site support routine Microsoft 365 and SharePoint administration user assistance and day to day IT maintenance.
You will help keep our office IT running smoothly by supporting users maintaining equipment helping with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint and improving the way our internal IT systems are documented and used.
This is not a desk only IT role. Some days may involve Microsoft 365 admin or updating SharePoint pages while others may involve moving equipment sorting cables setting up a workstation cleaning out a PC or helping someone at their desk.
The role will include:
1. Helping staff with day to day IT questions and practical issues
2. Setting up and moving PCs screens phones docking stations and other office equipment
3. Carrying out routine PC maintenance updates checks and basic hardware tasks
4. Supporting Microsoft 365 Teams Outlook SharePoint user accounts and access changes
5. Helping keep SharePoint pages document locations templates and user guidance clear and up to date
6. Assisting with new starter IT setup and basic IT induction
7. Keeping simple records notes checklists and user guidance up to date
8. Working with our external IT provider where specialist support or escalation is needed
Requirements
We are looking for someone who is curious practical reliable and confident enough to work through problems logically.
You do not need to know everything but you should be confident working through problems researching possible solutions asking sensible questions and knowing when to involve our external IT provider.
The right person will be happy helping users at their desks setting up equipment dealing with routine IT admin keeping records up to date and learning how IT is managed in a small business environment.
The role requires a responsible and trustworthy approach as you may be working with company systems user accounts and internal information.
The successful person should have:
1. An interest in IT computers systems and technology
2. Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
3. A practical approach to equipment cabling desk setups and general IT maintenance
4. Confidence using Windows PCs and common Microsoft tools
5. Good communication skills and patience when helping users
6. An organised approach to notes checklists records and guidance
7. A sensible approach to cyber security passwords updates and data protection
8. The ability to work independently while keeping others informed
9. The judgement to know when an issue should be escalated or checked with others
Experience with Microsoft 365 Teams Outlook OneDrive SharePoint PC hardware VOIP phones or basic networking would be useful but it is not essential if you are keen to learn
