OF5 Exercise Observation & Post-Exercise Reporting Lead (OF5 Ex Obs & PXR)

Subject to formal establishment Joint Boarding process No2 Boards (or sS equivalent) and sS Policies a vacancy will arise for an OF5 to serve asOF5 Exercise Observation & Post-Exercise Reporting Lead (OF5 Ex Obs & PXR) at the Integrated Warfare Centre Northwood HQ on ADC/VeRR/VTOD Terms and Conditions of Service (TaCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 1 Aug 26 (depending on current Service status of the selected candidate).

Up to 120 RSDs per year / total are available for the right candidate to conduct the role.

Unit Function:

The Integrated Warfare Centre is responsible for enabling the Joint Force to operate integrate innovate develop and adapt to become the Integrated Force of tomorrow in response to the changing character of conflict. It achieves this through the analysis of lessons insights and observations from operations and training and the experimentation exercising and exploitation of concepts and technologies across all domains.

Position Role:

OF5 Obs and PXR is IWCs lead for the coordination of Ex Observation and Post-Ex Reporting for Defence and Joint collective training events.

Responsibilities:

The Integrated Warfare Centre (IWC) is recruiting into its established and enduring position of OF5 Ex Obs and PXR and seeks an officer with broad and current experience of the Joint Operational-level and related Collective addition to OF5 core competences they should have wide-ranging experience of Joint Operations Operational Planning and Joint Exercises at senior level. The successful candidate will understand training learning and development practise and theory including coaching and mentoring working in a collegiate manner with reservists and contracted staff. They will have experience of NATO structures operations training policy and the Defence and Deterrence of the Euro Atlantic (DDA) Family of Plans.

• Lead the IWC Trainer Team (TT) during the planning delivery and reporting of nominated Defence and Jt Tier 3/4 collective training events.
• Ensure the TT monitors and assesses the Training Audience (TA) achievement of Exercise Objectives and Training Objectives during exercises.
• Ensure best practice observations and emerging lessons identified are recorded to support subsequent analysis and inform force development.
• Support the Exercise Director in managing exercise delivery to align with TA progression facilitate Hot Wash-ups and After Action Review (AAR)
• support Post Exercise Discussion (PXD) drafting First Impressions Reports (FIR) and Exercise Reports (EXREP) and support IWC INVAL
• When required be prepared to act as a member of the IWC Evaluation Team
• Other duties as directed by Hd Warfare Development

OF5 Ex Obs and PXR must interpret actions their underlying causes and their impact and explain them during the exercise and after. This must be conveyed precisely and succinctly in evidenced analysis with objectivity and impartiality.
