Kitchen General Assistant

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Kitchen General Assistant to join our team in Lifton United this role you will provide essential support to our kitchen staff ensuring smooth operations and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety. • Prepare ingredients for cooking including washing peeling chopping and portioning food items according to established recipes and standards
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment by washing dishes utensils and equipment and sanitizing work surfaces and storage areas
• Assist kitchen staff with food preparation tasks and support chefs during service periods
• Follow all food safety and hygiene protocols to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Receive and store deliveries checking items for quality and proper storage conditions
• Manage kitchen waste and recycling in accordance with organizational procedures
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently including dishwashers ovens and food preparation tools
• Communicate effectively with kitchen team members to coordinate tasks and resolve any issues that arise
• Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or damaged items to supervisory staff
• Perform general kitchen maintenance tasks and assist with deep cleaning as needed

Qualifications :

• Proven experience working in a kitchen or food service environment (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced high-pressure kitchen environment
• Physical stamina and capability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards
• Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately
• Effective communication and teamwork skills
• Reliability and punctuality
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and equipment
• Basic understanding of food handling and storage procedures (preferred)
