The position available is:
- Closed-term full-time until 31st of December 2026
- Working Monday and Friday
- Based in either Liverpool or Bankstown
- Level 4 on the Flourish Australia Enterprise Agreement (2018)
About the Opportunity
The Peer Support and Access Officer will work in the community with people with lived experience of mental health issues within the Connector Hub program in Southwest Sydney. This role aims to realise Flourish Australias vision by working with people to develop their recovery journey to meet their goals and support access to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) where possible.
The Peer Support and Access Officer will identify people accessing the Connector Hub program who are eligible to access the NDIS. They will support them and their families to navigate the complex application process effectively and if successful access NDIS supports to support their mental health recovery.
As a Peer Support and Access Officeryour own lived experience of a mental health issue and personal recovery will provide you with a distinct advantage as you mentor and support people with a lived experience of a mental health issue accessing the service. You will use your lived experience openly appropriately and effectively to build professional relationships with the people you support. You will also use your lived experience to inform and contribute to staff learning service understanding and delivering person-led recovery focused strengths-based language documentation training and actions.
The successful candidate for the Peer Support and Access Officer role will also be required to undertake a Certificate IV in Mental Health as a part of this role.

Please note - Successfulcandidates must maintain a Class C drivers licence as youmay be directed to use your private motor vehicle in the course of performing your duties when an organisational pool motor vehicle is not available. Proof of comprehensive insurance must be provided when required. You will receive payment of the Travelling Transport and Fares Allowance when using your private vehicle for work related purposes.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in human services or relevant field OR relevant Certificate IV in mental health related discipline
- A personal lived experience of a mental health issue and mental health recovery.
- Willingly and able to effectively respectfully and appropriately use your lived experience of a mental health issue.
- Excellent administration skills and at least 2 years experience in mental health related field as recognise by Flourish Australia.
- Demonstrated experience with facilitating multi-disciplinary coordinated planning where multiple providers work together to wrap-around services.
- Demonstrated experience working with people with psychosocial disability and supporting them to access and utilise the NDIS.
- Demonstrated ability to build the capacity of staff through training of groups and coaching of individuals.
- Strong time management and organisational skills and proven capacity to prioritise work commitments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures and to work as part of a multidisciplinary teams across multiple sites to develop collaborative relationships and networks between agencies.
- Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence.
