The Service & Team:

The Best Start Community Health and Wellbeing Service supports families from pregnancy through the early years helping parents and carers to give their children the best possible start in life.

The service provides support and advice to families on their babys health development feeding sleep and emotional wellbeing. Working closely with midwives Family Hubs and community services the team offers both universal support for all families and additional help where it is needed in a friendly nonjudgemental and inclusive way.

As part of this the Health Visitor Infant Feeding Team provides specialist support to families with feeding their baby. The team offers evidencebased information during pregnancy and after birth as well as onetoone support group sessions and peer support networks across Cornwall.

The Role:

The role of Infant Feeding Peer Support Worker will involve supporting families through their antenatal and postnatal experience with their feeding choices. You will work within the community to educate and support parents and promote confidence in Infant Feeding.

You will link closely with the local Breastfeeding Peer Support Groups and the Health Visiting team to provide expert and evidence-based feeding support to families under the supervision and support of the Infant Feeding Peer Support Coordinator.

There will be regular opportunities for training and updating of your knowledge and skills and excellent support from the wider team.

This presents an excellent opportunity to work in a valued and varied field with a supportive and dynamic team of Infant Feeding professionals.

This is a public/customer-facing role where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern:

This is a part time post working 21 hours per week to cover the role in the East of the County including supporting the Infant Feeding peer support groups in Saltash Torpoint and Liskeard amongst others that are currently running on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday

Your base would be Liskeard however this is a hybrid contract working both from home and dedicated office space as well as involving travelling to home visits / groups etc.

What youll need to succeed:

We are looking for a person with experience and training in Breastfeeding Peer Support or BFI training.

You will need to be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Core skills will include infant feeding knowledge and skills an empathetic and compassionate nature problem solving abilities and excellent communication skills.

You will need to be able to drive and access to a car
