Job Summary
EduTalent are seeking an exceptional and experienced Head of Learning Support to join a leading specialist school. This is a key leadership opportunity for a passionate SEND professional to shape and deliver outstanding evidence-based provision for learners with dyslexia and co-occurring specific learning differences (SpLDs).
Reporting to the Deputy Head (Academic) you will provide strategic leadership across learning support therapies interventions and SEND provision ensuring every student receives the support required to achieve their full potential.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for Learning Support SEND and therapeutic provision across the school.
- Lead and manage specialist teachers therapists teaching assistants and intervention teams.
- Oversee Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes annual reviews and statutory compliance.
- Manage examination access arrangements in line with current regulations.
- Lead admissions assessments and contribute to student placement decisions.
- Support whole-school teaching and learning through coaching training and professional development.
- Monitor the quality and effectiveness of SEND provision interventions and student outcomes.
- Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively.
- Build strong relationships with parents local authorities and external agencies.
- Contribute to the development of outreach advisory and training services.
- Play an active role in the wider life of the school and contribute to strategic school improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Essential
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Degree-level qualification.
- Significant experience supporting learners with dyslexia and co-occurring SpLDs.
- Strong knowledge of SEND legislation EHCP processes and examination access arrangements.
- Experience leading and managing teams within an educational setting.
- Excellent communication organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- A compassionate inclusive and aspirational leadership style.
Desirable
- Postgraduate SEND qualification ideally Level 7 Dyslexia/SpLD.
- Experience delivering staff training and professional development.
- Experience in outreach advisory services or consultancy work.
- Knowledge of specialist independent school settings.
