1344 - Data Engineer
Role Summary and Impact
This role forms part of a data engineering teamassigned toone of WPPs major global clients whowill be building and maintaining a global data warehouse automated reports and data provisioning applications to ensure that media and marketing stakeholders theworld overwillhave access to the right data and insights to inform their marketing decisions.
The teams primary responsibility is tobuild andmaintaina global Google Cloud based reporting solution which automates the collection and transformation of disparate marketing data intoa single sourceof truth. Not only does that mean running andmaintainingthe solution that already exists but also continually improving it to incorporate new data sources and to derive new insights to support ever-evolving business demands.
As a Data Engineer your primary responsibility will be to support campaign reporting by creating and maintaining infrastructure supporting timely accurate and meaningful data deliverables & will serve as a leader and exemplar of data engineering best practices and doing so you will exhibit a foundational understanding of cloud technology and key data engineering skills and knowledge to help your team build their career in this fast evolving and in demand industry.
Some of the thingswedlike you to do:
- Deploy data collectors in Adverity to gather data from media agency system and other sources
- Develop and expand on existing data recipes and transformations in SQL via DBT run on Google Cloud Platform
- Development andmaintaindata quality checks and procedures helpingstakeholdersovercome data issues before theyimpactthe quality of the reporting solution
- Support the translation of user requirements and business needs into technical specifications
- Be a proficient user of Google Cloud Platform and associated technologies ensuring your work incorporates industry best practice
- Monitor automated jobs troubleshooting data issues as-and-when they arise
- Support other members of the team responsible for last mile transformation and visualization of data within Google Data Studio reports and dashboards
- Serve as a technical and professional leader for junior staff
- Provide hands-on support to users of reporting solutions helping the wider team triage and respond to user queriesin a timely manner
- Attend internal stakeholder meetingspresentingyoursolutionsandprovidingupdates on your work.
- Support thedevelopmentstrong working relationships with third-party data providers that we rely on for access to necessary data
Skills and Experience
Required
- Experience in data engineering preferably handling advertising media or marketing data
- Professional experience with SQL preferably deployed via DBT
- Analytically minded enabling you to understand and overcome technically complex challenges and to tell compelling stories with data
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail including the ability to manage multiple tasks ina fairly autonomousway
- Strong spoken and written communication skills ensuring your thoughts and needs are heard and understood
- An ability todemonstratea passion for the digital marketing ecosystem and an understanding of the role that data plays within it
- Delivers best results when working in a team environment and an ability to partner effectively with people of varying degrees of technical capability
Desirable
- Previousexperience working with data and technology
- Experience with digital marketing platforms and the data they generatein particular GoogleMarketing Platform FacebookTiktoketc.
- An understanding of how data is tracked and exchangedin the process of digitaladvertising ( of ad servers and other third-party tech vendors)
- Experience using or building reports with business intelligence software ideallyMicrosoftPowerBI
- Work experience within a marketing organization preferably at a media agency or related company (e.g. publisher ad tech client marketing org)
