Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Uganda Kenya Tanzania Rwanda and South Sudan.

On behalf of our client In the Renewable Energies Sector we are looking for a competent skilled and experienced Engineering Team Lead to work in Kampala.

About the role:

The core role of an Engineering Team Lead is end to end management of the people and resources allocated to your team in the field. The main duties include implementing technical tasks team recruitment and management planning and creating team workflow via job allocation reporting and documentation staff training/coaching and ensuring high performance of your team members. The role requires the holder to develop successful relationships with a wide variety of internal and external customers and provide technical support to the new and existing SunCulture customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning and Coordination

  • Conduct site visits for pre-feasibility and feasibility assessments including the collection and analysis of site information.
  • Source and manage the necessary tools materials and equipment required for technical activities.
  • Ensure effective time management and communication so that all assigned technical projects are completed within the agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Allocate jobs effectively to team members based on workload skills location and priority.

Risk Management
  • Proactively identify project and field risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct risk assessments during installations and take the necessary measures to ensure safety.
  • Communicate and seek guidance on any risks or challenges encountered in the field.
  • Ensure that all team members comply with relevant safety procedures and company policies.
Customer Service
  • Ensure that the quality of technical projects meets client expectations including communicating progress and changes and responding promptly to client feedback.
  • Conduct customer training after every installation ensuring that at least one additional user of the system has the knowledge required to operate maintain and service the installed system.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients within the market area to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Address after-sales and warranty claims promptly and professionally.
  • Represent the company professionally and uphold SunCultures values and ethical standards at all times.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Submit all required documentation before and after completion of installations in the prescribed format.
  • Conduct project follow-ups and provide all required documentation relating to work allocation progress and reports.
  • Recruit onboard train and manage Field Technicians.
  • Ensure that team members remain productive by allocating jobs effectively and ensuring that work is completed within the required turnaround time and to the required quality standards.
  • Follow up with team members to ensure that clients are contacted before technical visits and that visit dates and times are agreed upon with clients
  • Review and verify individual survey installation after-sales and repossession reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure that all jobs pending due to client unavailability are followed up regularly by the responsible engineer or technician.
  • Review and verify expense claim forms submitted by engineers and highlight any irregularities.
  • Submit detailed weekly reports outlining work progress challenges and key risks.
  • Ensure that all required technical and client information is accurately entered into the companys systems.
Leadership and Team Management
  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager to align work plans and communicate any challenges or operational issues encountered.
  • Build a culture of collaboration accountability and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Identify and highlight gaps in survey installation and after-sales processes and recommend appropriate improvements.
  • Ensure that all new team members are properly onboarded and integrated into SunCultures culture and ways of working.
  • Conduct daily check-ins with team members to promote effective communication provide timely feedback and address challenges promptly.
  • Coach and develop team members to improve their technical skills productivity and overall performance.
  • Monitor team performance and take appropriate action to address performance gaps.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Biosystems Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
Required Experience
  • At least two years of experience managing a team of more than 10 people.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership and accountability for both the successes and failures of the team.
  • Proven track record of high performance and strong execution.
Required Skills
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills with a commitment to achieving team objectives.
  • Detail-oriented focused and comfortable working in an environment of ambiguity and change.
  • Self-aware humble and committed to continuous improvement as a leader and professional.
  • Strong customer management relationship management communication and team management skills.
