Job Summary
We are a manufacturing company seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a proven track record of successfully handling URA audits. The role involves overseeing the full accounting function in a factory environment including cost accounting inventory and production costing. The ideal candidate combines technical accounting skills with leadership ability and thrives in a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full accounting cycle including general ledger reconciliations and month end closing
Oversee cost accounting: raw materials work-in-progress finished goods and production costing
Manage inventory accounting and ensure accurate stock valuation.
Prepare and file statutory returns (VAT PAYE WHT income tax) and ensure full URA compliance
Lead the preparation for and response to URA audits and queries
Prepare management accounts and financial reports for decision-making
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
Requirements
Key Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
- Proven experience in accounting and financial management
- Demonstrated experience managing and responding to URA audits
- Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax compliance (VAT PAYE WHT income tax)
- Excellent teamwork communication and leadership skills
- Professional qualification: ACCA or CPA (full or part-qualified) .
- Experience working in the manufacturing sector particularly with cost and inventory accounting
- Experience with Odoo or ERP.
