Job Summary
The Senior Accountant will oversee the hospitals financial operations including accounting reporting budgeting and compliance. The ideal candidate is a certified finance professional with strong analytical skills and healthcare sector experience.
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable accounts receivable and general ledger management.
Prepare accurate and timely monthly quarterly and annual financial statements and reports.
Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with department heads.
Ensure compliance with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) tax obligations including VAT PAYE and corporate tax.
Manage internal and external audit processes and implement audit recommendations.
Maintain proper financial controls and safeguard hospital assets.
Monitor cash flow liquidity and investment activities.
Prepare payroll and ensure timely and accurate salary disbursement.
Supervise junior accounting staff and provide technical guidance.
Liaise with banks auditors regulatory authorities and other stakeholders.
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
Must hold a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification.
Minimum of 45 years of progressive accounting experience preferably in a hospital or large organisation.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and Uganda tax regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks Sage or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent attention to detail analytical thinking and reporting skills.
Demonstrated leadership ability and capacity to manage a finance team.
