Job Summary

Primary Purpose of the Role

The HR Business Partner (Uganda) is responsible for driving efficient HR operations while championing a positive work culture that fosters employee engagement motivation and role ensures accurate payroll and compliance with labour legislation delivers evidencebased HR reporting and implements programs across recruitment performance management employee relations and succession planning. By leading initiatives that promote happinessrecognition and wellness the HRBP strengthens workforce morale builds trust between management and staff and contributes to organizational effectiveness and longterm sustainability.

Key Accountabilities

1. Strategic & Administrative Deliverables
Support the Country Manager in managing relationships with employees trade unionsgovernment agencies and other stakeholders to build an engaged workforce.
Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies to mitigate organizational risk.
Safeguard organizational values by maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all HR processes.
Prepare and submit weekly monthly and quarterly HR reports tailored for management decision making.
Develop and maintain effective workplace relationships to enhance morale productivity and retention.
2. Employee Relations Culture & Motivation
Champion initiatives that foster a positive work culture including open communicationinclusivity and respect.
Design and implement employee engagement activities that promote happinessmotivation and team cohesion.
Lead programs that recognize and reward employee contributions ensuring fairness and transparency.
Partner with management to build a culture of trust accountability and collaboration.
Conduct regular employee feedback sessions and climate surveys to identify areas for improvement.
Develop retention strategies by aligning employee aspirations with organizational goals.
Support wellness and work-life balance initiatives that contribute to employee satisfaction and long-term commitment.
3. Talent Management & Workforce Planning
Coordinate recruitment selection orientation and onboarding processes.
Maintain accurate HR databases and employee records in compliance with labour legislation.
Manage staff rotation secondment and succession planning initiatives.
Oversee staff recognition and reward programs.
Ensure timely management of staff leave processes and final dues for separated employees.
4. Payroll & HR Operations
Prepare and audit monthly payroll to ensure accuracy and alignment with staff deployment.
Manage staff files and documentation across the employee life cycle.
Provide historical reference through effective filing and retrieval systems.
Advise employees on wage interpretation industrial relations and company policies.


Requirements
Essential requirements

A. Educational Background
Tertiary qualifications in Industrial Relations Employment Law Human Resource Management or related discipline.
Practicing Certificate from the Institute of Human Resource Management or similar institution in the Uganda market.
B. Technical & Professional Competence
Strong knowledge of employment legislation labour relations frameworks and HR policies.
Proficiency in HR information systems and office computer applications.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement HR programs that drive engagement and retention.
C. Leadership & Culture-Building Skills
Proven experience in fostering positive work culture and employee engagement.
Ability to design and lead employee motivation and wellness initiatives.
Track record of implementing recognition and reward programs that enhance morale and retention.
Strong facilitation skills for employee feedback sessions climate surveys and engagement forums.
D. Interpersonal & Communication Skills
Highly developed oral and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and collaboration across all levels.
Strong internal customer relations orientation.
