Head, Financial Crime Compliance
Job Summary
To lead and manage the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) for Stanbic Bank Uganda and support Business Units and Corporate Functions with the implementation of Financial Crime Compliance Policies Standards and Procedures.
- To provide specialist Financial Crime Compliance guidance and advice covering Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF) Financial Sanctions Customer Due Diligence (CDD) Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) Correspondent Banking and related financial crime risk disciplines.
- To ensure the Bank maintains an effective financial crime risk management framework and conducts business in compliance with applicable laws regulations Group Standards and regulatory expectations in Uganda to avoid operational losses regulatory sanctions financial penalties and reputational damage.
- Oversee suspicious transaction monitoring internal escalation processes and regulatory reporting obligations
- Build develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders relevant to Financial Crime Compliance including regulators law enforcement agencies and industry bodies.
- Conduct impact assessments of regulatory legislative and policy developments and determine actions required to ensure compliance and effective risk mitigation.
- Develop and implement the country Financial Crime Compliance strategy and annual execution plans aligned to the Banks strategic objectives and Group Financial Crime Compliance Framework.
- Maintain effective engagement with the Bank of Uganda Financial Intelligence Authority and other relevant regulatory authorities.
- Lead and manage the Financial Crime Compliance team in accordance with the Banks people management and leadership principles.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Law Risk Management Banking Finance Commerce Accounting or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification in Risk Management Compliance Law Finance Business Administration or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Relevant professional certifications in Financial Crime Compliance are highly desirable including Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) the International Compliance Association (ICA) Diploma or an equivalent financial crime qualification.
Experience Required
- 5-7 years of experience in Financial Crime Compliance Compliance Risk Management or Internal Audit within the banking or financial services industry.
- 4-6 years of demonstrated expertise in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT) Sanctions Compliance Customer Due Diligence (CDD) Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime Risk Management.
- 3-5 years of proven leadership experience managing and developing specialist compliance teams with responsibility for driving performance and ensuring effective risk and compliance oversight.
