Job Summary

  1. Cash Management & Bank Reconciliation
    • Learn how to maintain and reconcile daily cashbooks.
    • Understand how to monitor and manage bank accounts to prevent overdrafts.
    • Learn how to coordinate the end month cash counts
    • Surprise cash Count
  2. Expenditure Review & Coding
    • Gain skills in reviewing expenditure requests and receipts for accuracy completeness and correct coding.
    • Understand the process of preparing compliant payment vouchers.
    • Gain understanding on expense reports audit and approval
  3. Financial Documentation & Filing
    • Learn best practices for filing and archiving vouchers and supporting documents in chronological order.
    • Acquire skills in retrieving accounting records for management audits and third parties.
  4. Accounting Systems (SAP)
    • Gain practical experience in timely transaction posting in SAP.
    • Support timely project invoice entries and understand the monthly accounting cycle.
  5. Grant Financial Monitoring
    • Assist in reviewing grantee financial reports and learn donor compliance requirements.
    • Support monthly tracking of implemented activities and verify receipt/posting of related invoices.
  6. Financial Reporting Support
    • Learn how to compile data for project-level financial reports.
    • Understand processes for accuracy checks and variance analysis.
    • Learn how to clear open item accounts accruals Payments
  7. Processing Invoices
    • Learn how to invoices-linking to P2P
    • Learn how to invoices for approval
    • Gain understanding in following up on the approval of invoices

Qualifications :

  • Degree in Accounting Finance Business Studies or a related field.
  • Some prior exposure to finance or accounting through coursework internship or volunteer work preferably with INGOs.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and basic accounting concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Team player with interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn travel occasionally and adapt to different working environments.
  • Computer literacy and strong documentation skills.

Internship Engagement Terms

This is a learning placement for a period of 6 months designed to build capacity and practical experience. While it does not constitute employment the intern will gain valuable exposure to international NGO financial management practices and systems with mentoring and supervision provided by the Country Finance Officer.
