Role Summary
The Permitting & Regulatory Coordination Officer is responsible for supporting permit acquisition processes regulatory compliance and external stakeholder engagement for infrastructure/telecommunications projects. The role ensures efficient coordination between internal teams and government authorities enabling timely project delivery while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and enhance efficiency in permit application and approval processes.
- Coordinate regulatory submissions and ensure timely follow-ups with relevant authorities.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with local government institutions including municipal offices and permitting bodies.
- Act as a liaison between internal project teams and external stakeholders to improve responsiveness and communication.
- Track permit status identify bottlenecks and escalate issues to ensure resolution.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and standards.
- Provide administrative and coordination support to allow core project teams to focus on strategic and delivery-critical activities.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to permits approvals and regulatory interactions.
- Perform any other duties assigned.
Requirements & Skills
- Candidate with 35 years of experience dealing with government permits municipal authorities NEMC TCRA/TCAA land offices or infrastructure approvals would likely be a strong fit regardless of which of the above degrees they hold.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with local authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Familiarity with telecommunications regulators (e.g. NEMC TCAA or equivalent) and permitting processes is a strong advantage.
- Strong coordination planning and follow-up skills across cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- High level of attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in basic administrative tools and reporting.
- Bachelors Degree in Public Administration
- Strong understanding of government procedures permits regulations and stakeholder engagement.
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration Bachelors Degree in Law (LLB) Bachelors Degree in Urban and Regional Planning Bachelors Degree in Environmental Management or Environmental Science
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance legal requirements permits and government processes.
- Relevant for infrastructure projects land use approvals permits and local government engagement.
- Particularly useful when dealing with NEMC approvals and environmental permits.
Required Skills:
Qualifications and Skills: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field. 12 years of experience in an accounting or finance role preferably Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Tally QuickBooks Sage or ERP systems). Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of mobile money operations or digital payment systems is an added advantage. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Good understanding of Tanzanian tax laws and financial regulations. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Preferred: Experience with Tanzanian tax systems (TRA requirements VAT PAYE etc.) is essential. Experience with regulatory compliance (BOT TRA etc.). CPA (T) or progress toward a professional accounting qualification is a plus.
