Job Summary

Our client in the agriculture and infrastructure industry is seeking an experienced and results-driven Logistics Manager to oversee and optimize end-to-end logistics operations across multiple projects. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing inbound and outbound logistics activities coordinating the movement of machinery equipment and project materials and ensuring efficient transport from ports to project sites and farms. The role also involves overseeing customs clearance regulatory compliance logistics cost control and documentation management. The candidate will work closely with Procurement Project Teams Farm Operations Finance and external logistics partners to ensure smooth and compliant logistics operations. Ideal candidates are highly organized proactive and experienced in managing complex logistics environments within Tanzania.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage inbound and outbound logistics operations across projects.
  • Plan and coordinate movement of machinery equipment agricultural inputs and project materials.
  • Manage oversized special and project cargo logistics activities.
  • Coordinate transportation from ports to project sites and farms efficiently and safely.
  • Oversee customs clearance port operations and regulatory compliance processes.
  • Manage VAT deferment duty exemptions and customs incentive processes.
  • Coordinate with TISEZA EPZA and relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with Tanzanian EXIM regulations and customs requirements.
  • Monitor logistics costs and ensure operations remain within approved budgets.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with transporters clearing agents and logistics service providers.
  • Track logistics KPIs including lead times delays service levels and operational costs.
  • Identify logistics risks and implement mitigation plans to minimize disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate logistics customs and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure audit readiness and proper record keeping for customs and tax reviews.
  • Support warehouse and distribution setup and operational optimization.
  • Lead develop and manage the logistics team as projects expand.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across logistics processes and systems.
  • Resolve operational and regulatory issues with logistics partners and authorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Logistics Supply Chain Management or related field.
  • Customs Certification (ITA or equivalent) is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in logistics and supply chain management.
  • Strong hands-on experience managing logistics operations within Tanzania.
  • Proven experience handling machinery and equipment imports.
  • Experience managing VAT deferment and duty exemption processes.
  • Good understanding of customs clearance procedures and Tanzanian EXIM regulations.
  • Exposure to TISEZA and EPZA frameworks is an advantage.
  • Experience within agriculture infrastructure or large-scale project environments is preferred.
  • Strong operational execution and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation abilities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • High attention to detail compliance and documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and complex operational environment.
