Job Summary

At Digby Wells Environmental we work with clients to address environmental and social challenges and support responsible development. As a Junior Environmental Consultant in Tanzania you will help deliver permitting assessment and compliance work while learning from experienced colleagues across disciplines.
The opportunity
As a Junior Environmental Consultant you will support environmental projects from application through reporting helping the team meet quality time and budget requirements. The work spans technical writing coordination with clients and authorities and site activities. It is an opportunity to build practical consulting experience contribute to work with real environmental and social outcomes and grow through varied projects formal mentorship and guidance from senior specialists.
What you will do
  • Assist with environmental permitting and compliance processes under Tanzanian requirements including the Environmental Management Act EIA and Audit Regulations and Mining Act.
  • Prepare documentation for environmental authorisation applications and support the drafting of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) under supervision.
  • Compile EIA and EMP reports and other submissions for internal review clients and regulatory authorities.
  • Contribute to legal compliance checks and audits with guidance from senior colleagues.
  • Coordinate project administration and logistics for mining and other environmental applications keeping deliverables organised and on schedule.
  • Work with specialists from other disciplines and assist with communication with clients and government departments.
  • Participate in site work including assignments under strenuous field conditions.


Requirements
What you will bring
  • A degree in Environmental Science Environmental Management or a related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of environmental consultancy experience including practical application of the Environmental Management Act and EIA and Audit Regulations.
  • Clear report-writing organisation and communication skills with care for quality and detail.
  • A willingness to learn collaborate with colleagues and work on site when projects require it.
Additional Requirements
  • Project management certification or NEMC registration as an Environmental and/or Social Specialist.
  • Experience conducting environmental and social impact assessments in mining against international standards such as the IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles EP4.

Required Education:

Degree in Environmental Science or a related field
