Civil Engineer

Job Summary
- Review and verify structural drawings construction designs and bar bending schedules before project implementation.
- Supervise day-to-day construction activities to ensure work is executed according to approved drawings specifications and quality standards.
- Plan coordinate and monitor project execution from design through construction completion and handover.
- Prepare and implement method statements for various construction activities in compliance with engineering best practices.
- Develop implement and monitor Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) plans throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) material schedules cost estimates and material requisitions.
- Develop update and monitor project work schedules to ensure timely completion of construction activities.
- Coordinate with consultants architects subcontractors suppliers and other project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress identify technical issues and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Prepare and submit daily weekly and monthly project progress reports to management.
- Attend technical meetings site coordination meetings and project review meetings with clients and consultants.
- Monitor construction quality and ensure compliance with local building codes engineering standards and contract specifications.
- Maintain accurate project documentation including site records inspection reports weather records and work stoppage reports.
- Ensure effective implementation of health safety and environmental (HSE) standards across all construction activities.
- Monitor resource utilization including labor equipment and materials to maximize project efficiency and productivity.
- Identify project risks delays and potential construction challenges while implementing appropriate mitigation measures.
- Support project planning budgeting and cost control activities throughout the construction process.
- Ensure projects are delivered within the approved budget quality standards and agreed timelines.
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in civil engineering structural design and construction project management.
- Strong experience in structural design review site supervision and execution of civil construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs) material schedules cost estimates and project documentation.
- Good understanding of reinforced concrete works structural drawings bar bending schedules and construction methodologies.
- Experience preparing project work schedules and monitoring project progress against established timelines.
- Sound knowledge of quality assurance quality control procedures and construction standards.
- Familiarity with local building regulations engineering codes and construction safety requirements.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or other relevant design and project management tools.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel Word and Project.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving and technical decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent planning organizational and time management abilities with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with project teams and stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and work in various site conditions as required.
Required Skills:
Bachelors degree in Logistics Supply Chain Management or related field. Customs Certification (ITA or equivalent) is required. Minimum of 5 years experience in logistics and supply chain management. Strong hands-on experience managing logistics operations within Tanzania. Proven experience handling machinery and equipment imports. Experience managing VAT deferment and duty exemption processes. Good understanding of customs clearance procedures and Tanzanian EXIM regulations. Exposure to TISEZA and EPZA frameworks is an advantage. Experience within agriculture infrastructure or large-scale project environments is preferred. Strong operational execution and problem-solving skills. Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation abilities. Strong leadership and team management skills. High attention to detail compliance and documentation accuracy. Ability to work in a fast-paced and complex operational environment.
