Postdoctoral Fellow in Environmental Economics 80-100 (mfd)

This 2-year position is funded by a Swiss National Science Foundation National Research Program 82 (SNSF NRP82) and will support the first Swiss National Assessment of Lake Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (SNALBES).

Currently Switzerland does not have standard lake biodiversity sampling guidelines or methods and no federal overview of the status of lake biodiversity or its value to this project we will close this gap by developing standard sampling protocols and lake assessment methods and we will assess the diverse (monetary and non-monetary) values of Swiss lakes.

This position is part of the SNALBES projects work package 3. It entails conducting a nationwide survey using environmental and plural valuation methods data analysis publication of primary research articles science communication interdisciplinary collaboration with the project team and engagement with international federal and cantonal stakeholders. You will lead the survey design and administration survey data analysis and writing of peer-reviewed journal articles. Additionally you will support the project team with organization of workshops round-table discussions and consensus-building with stakeholders. You will help disseminate findings to the public via policy briefs social media blogs websites fact sheets and reports.

Your qualifications include a PhD degree in environmental economics ecological economics or other relevant fields. You have extensive knowledge of environmental valuation methods in particular discrete choice experiments survey design and solid econometric skills. You have experience and proven ability for conducting stated preference surveys choice experiment design and choice modelling. You are familiar with plural valuation approaches and the concept of Natures Contributions to People. You thrive as a member of a team communicating openly and regularly with team members. You are a hard-working adaptable reliable and kind person with good problem-solving skills. You have demonstrated organizational time management and multi-tasking abilities. An ability to communicate in German or French is beneficial.
