Job Summary
As a Manufacturing Equipment Technician you will play a key role in supporting the advanced production equipment used to manufacture Coherents semiconductor laser technologies. Working within our Manufacturing Equipment Engineering team you will maintain troubleshoot repair calibrate and assemble a wide range of manufacturing systems that are critical to production performance and reliability.
This is a highly hands-on position offering exposure to mechanical electrical pneumatic cooling and automated production equipment. You will work closely with engineers and technicians to ensure high manufacturing uptime support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the long-term performance of sophisticated semiconductor manufacturing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance troubleshooting repair and calibration activities on production equipment including laser diode burn-in and lifetime testing systems.
- Assemble install and commission manufacturing equipment used in semiconductor laser production.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical electrical pneumatic and system-related issues to minimize downtime and maintain reliable equipment operation.
- Manage maintenance activities and repair documentation within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Support the development and maintenance of spare parts inventory systems to ensure equipment readiness and efficient maintenance planning.
- Calibrate system components and verify equipment performance according to manufacturing and quality requirements.
- Work closely with technicians and engineers to improve equipment reliability process stability and manufacturing efficiency.
- Support mechanical workshop activities including equipment modifications repairs and fabrication work where required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment performance uptime and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Completed vocational training in a technical discipline such as Automation Technology Mechatronics Polymechanics Industrial Maintenance Electronics or a related field.
- Experience working within a manufacturing production industrial or equipment maintenance environment.
- Hands-on experience operating maintaining troubleshooting and repairing complex production systems.
Skills & Other Requirements
- Strong technical understanding with the ability to diagnose and solve equipment-related issues across multiple technical disciplines.
- Practical hands-on approach with a genuine interest in mechanical and technical work.
- Knowledge of pneumatics cooling systems or industrial automation is advantageous.
- Experience using maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to learn new technologies and become proficient with complex manufacturing equipment.
- Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a close-knit technical team.
Fluent German and basic English language skills.
