As aPolymer Testing Scientist (m/w/d) you will report directly to our Director of Environmental and Analytical Labs and you will join our Product Safety Sciences Laboratories CoE based in Vernier.

You will be responsible for testing delivery system samples for physicochemical environmental and analytical aspects while developing our testing capabilities on polymers to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.

In this exciting role you will:

  • Lead the scientific execution of polymer testing within the PSS Laboratories CoE to support physicochemical analytical and environmental fate assessments.

  • Perform and oversee laboratory work independently or with colleagues ensuring data quality reliability and regulatory compliance (GLP internal standards).

  • Plan studies in close collaboration with other laboratory managers and scientists.

  • Develop and validate new analytical and environmental testing methods to better understand polymer properties and biodegradability.

  • Maintain laboratory SOPs for quality and compliance following our priorities and regulatory needs.

  • Be a scientific expert by providing polymer testing guidance across crossfunctional and R&D teams.

  • Support problem solving external studies and continuous improvement projects.

  • Build collaborations with external laboratories CROs and academic institutions to expand testing capabilities.

  • Be a key contact for polymer testing across the internal laboratory network.

  • Support the registration process through coordination with regulatory teams to ensure comprehensive submissions.

You

  • Masters degree or PhD in Polymer Testing Analytical or Environmental Chemistry.

  • Minimum 35 years of experience in the polymer industry contract research or academic laboratories.

  • Demonstrated expertise in polymer testing and characterization (physicochemical analytical environmental).

  • Handson experience with macro or biomolecular polymer analysis and testing methodologies.

  • Knowledge of biodegradation studies and environmental fate assessment is beneficial.

  • Experience within a regulated laboratory environment (GLP ISO) as a Study Director or equivalent role is beneficial.

  • Contribution to laboratory improvement method development validation and standardization.

  • Familiarity with synthetic or natural fragrance raw materials is beneficial.

  • Deep understanding of polymeric materialsstructure properties and current scientific challenges.

  • Proficiency in analytical techniques such as LCUV/MS GPC PyGCMS IR TOC and TGA.

  • Experience measuring physicochemical properties and biodegradation potential of polymers.

  • Knowledge of NMR MALDIMS or similar molecular characterization methods is desirable.

  • Awareness of global regulatory frameworks for polymer registration.

  • Proficient in data analysis technical reporting and clear communication of scientific results.

  • Experience with method optimization validation and documentation per regulatory standards.

  • Good command of Microsoft applications.

  • Fluent in English; proficiency in French is beneficial.

  • Collaborative and proactive team player.
