Job Summary

You will be working on development of High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) cables and coils. You will work on the design assembly commissioning and operation of winding and cabling machines used to produce HTS cables with REBCO tapes.

We will teach you everything you need to know the most important is that you are curious and eager to learn.

Your responsibilities

  • Perform quality control (QC) and measurements on REBCO tapes.
  • Participate in the qualification of the mechanical properties of REBCO tapes.
  • Make diagrams wiring PLC programming and commissioning of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Support activities related to the integration and use of REBCO tapes in HTS coils and cables.

Your profile

  • Experience in electrical testing or material testing.
  • Experience in reading and drawing of circuit diagrams.
  • Experience in the cabling and commissioning of electrical cabinets or machines is an advantage.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly is an advantage.

Skills

  • Knowledge in instrumentation and data acquisition is an advantage.
  • Able to work independently and in teams.
  • Reliable and autonomous.
  • Spoken and written English or French with a commitment to learn the other language.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants with a Bachelors Masters or PhD degree are not eligible.

Additional Information :

Job closing date: 16.08.2026 at 23:59 CEST.

Contract duration: 24 months with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week

Job flexibility: Fully Onsite

Target start date: 01-October-2026

This position involves:

  • A valid driving licence.
  • Exposure to electromagnetic fields under certain exposure conditions.

Given the occupational health risks associated with this position the selected candidate must obtain medical clearance before a contract offer is confirmed.
