Electrical or Electronics Technical Engineer (TE-MPE-MPGRAE)

As a member of the team developing CERNs 13 kA Energy Extraction System controls you will contribute to system testing troubleshooting data acquisition hardware installation and commissioning systems.

Your responsibilities:

• Set up instrumentation devices (oscilloscopes measurement probes function generators etc.) and conduct commissioning and performance qualification tests.
• Debug and troubleshoot electronic and electrical circuits.
• PCB tests and validation.
• Set up DAQ devices.
• Data collection and analysis.
• Test report preparation.
• Assemble test and install electronic chassis.
• Test hardware performance validation.

Your profile:

• Experience in the installation test troubleshooting of electrical and/or electronic circuits and devices.
• Experience with instrumentation (setting up measurement devices such as oscilloscopes measurement probes function generators etc).
• Experience of PCB production and tests.
• Basic experience with set up DAQ systems and electrical/electronic signals data analysis.
• Experience with test stations validating the performance of control electronic and electrical production would be an advantage.

Skills:

• Knowledge of electrical and/or electronic circuits debugging and measurement techniques.
• Basic knowledge of Electromechanical devices and maintenance.
• Ability to write test reports and documentation.
• Knowledge of using mechanical tooling during the installation of the equipment would be an asset.
• Spoken and written English or French with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.

Eligibility criteria:

• You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
• By the application deadline you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelors or Masters degree.
• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
• Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
• Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Additional Information :

Job closing date: 20.09.2026 at 23:59 CEST.

Contract duration: 24 months with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week

Job flexibility: Fully Onsite
