The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Cloud Software Architect to join an innovative technology company developing cutting-edge cloud platforms in a fast-paced research-driven this role you will combine strategic architecture responsibilities with hands-on engineering while temporarily leading the Cloud & Infrastructure Squad until a permanent Team Lead joins.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building scalable cloud platforms mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence while remaining actively involved in implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and evolve a scalable secure multi-tenant cloud platform on Microsoft Azure.

  • Define cloud architecture APIs and integration patterns enabling secure communication between edge devices cloud services enterprise applications and connected systems.

  • Serve as the technical lead for the Cloud & Infrastructure Squad ensuring sprint delivery aligns with the overall product roadmap.

  • Collaborate closely with architects product management and leadership to define technical roadmaps and architecture strategy.

  • Remain hands-on by contributing code reviewing pull requests prototyping solutions and troubleshooting production issues.

  • Drive architecture decisions around scalability availability security latency reliability and cost optimization.

  • Establish and promote security-by-design principles including IAM encryption secrets management and network segmentation.

  • Mentor cloud engineers through architecture reviews code reviews and technical coaching.

  • Support the transition towards industrialized operations by implementing SRE practices observability incident readiness and operational excellence.

What Were Looking For:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Proven experience designing and implementing cloud architectures on Microsoft Azure.

  • Strong understanding of Azure networking compute storage identity and multi-tenant architectures.

  • Ability to thrive in dynamic startup or research environments where priorities evolve quickly.

  • Excellent communication skills with experience acting as the primary technical contact for cloud-related topics.

  • Strong hands-on engineering mindset you enjoy building solutions as much as designing them.

  • Experience leading technical teams workstreams or sub-projects.

  • Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical best practices.

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)

    • Kubernetes and container orchestration

    • CI/CD pipelines and automation

  • Fluent English.

  • Based in Switzerland or willing to work on-site in Zurich.

Nice to Have:

  • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g. Azure Solutions Architect Expert)

  • Experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform

  • On-premises infrastructure experience

  • Cloud governance landing zones and cost optimization

  • Monitoring and observability tools (Grafana Prometheus Azure Monitor)

  • PKI and certificate management

  • Experience integrating cloud platforms with industrial systems (ERP MES SCADA) robotics or IoT environments

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
