Postdoctoral position in translational lymphoma research

The position will be located at the Department of Immunotechnology at Medicon Village in Lund and is part of CREATE Health and Lund Universitys Cancer Center. The Department of Immunotechnology conducts research ranging from advanced technology development to biomedical studies. The main research areas include sensitization immuno-oncology and biomarkers. The modern facilities are located at Medicon Village where academic research is carried out side by side with private companies and actors from the healthcare sector. A number of important infrastructures are available including specialized laboratories for antibody development flow cytometry spatial omics and mass spectrometry as well as NBIS (National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden). The Department is also responsible for several student courses and offers high-quality education at both undergraduate and advanced levels. Approximately 40 people work within the Department. You will be part of a research group conducting translational lymphoma research with a focus on understanding tumor biology and the tumor microenvironment in lymphoid malignancies.

The research focus of the position lies within translational lymphoma research with particular emphasis on cutaneous T-cell lymphomas and high-grade B-cell lymphomas. The research group conducts experimental and translational studies using clinically well-characterized patient material in close collaboration with clinical researchers. The research aims to improve the biological understanding of lymphoma by characterizing tumor cells immune cells and their spatial organization within the tumor microenvironment. We use spatial transcriptomics and spatial proteomics advanced image analysis and computational approaches to investigate molecular and cellular heterogeneity and to integrate spatial molecular information with histopathological and clinical data. We are now seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with expertise in spatial omics image analysis and computational analysis of complex biological data.

The main duties involved in a post-doctoral position is to conduct research. Teaching may also be included but up to no more than 20% of working hours. The position includes the opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning. The purpose of the position is to develop independence as a researcher and to create the opportunity for further development.

The postdoctoral position includes a combination of experimental work data analysis as well as interpretation and presentation of research results. The main part of the work for the advertised position involves translational studies of cutaneous T-cell lymphomas and high-grade B-cell lymphomas. Research will focus on spatial transcriptomic and spatial proteomic analysis of patient-derived tissue quantitative image analysis and integration of molecular spatial histopathological and clinical data. Computational and statistical analyses will be performed primarily using R. The research is carried out in a multidisciplinary environment and in collaboration with clinical researchers and other relevant partners.

Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD within the subject of the position. The certificate proving the qualification requirement is met must be received before the employment decision is made. Priority will be given to candidates who have graduated no more than three years ago before the last day for application. Under special circumstances the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier.

Additional requirements:

• Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
• A completed doctoral degree in cell biology or immunology.
• Strong ability to initiate develop and conduct high-quality research.
• Documented knowledge in lymphoma biology
• Documented practical experience in spatial transcriptomics and spatial proteomics.
• Documented practical experience in high-plex image analysis of tissue
• Documented knowledge and practical experience in programming and data analysis in R.
• Good communication skills and extensive documented experience of supervision of degree projects.
• Good collaborative skills initiative and the ability to solve work tasks independently

This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in a career and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers. Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject.

• Experience from industry within biotechnology pharmaceuticals diagnostics or another relevant life-science field is considered a merit.

This is a full-time fixed-term employment of 2 years with a planned starting date of 1 January 2027. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor (Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow).
