MultiPark is a strategic research area at Lund University. As a global leader in the study of Parkinsons Alzheimers and other neurodegenerative diseases MultiPark conducts research across all levels of investigationfrom fundamental molecular mechanisms to patient care. Our research environment includes approximately 50 research groups over 90% of which are affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University.

Job Description and Responsibilities
We are currently seeking a committed and responsible Research Engineer to assist us as Platform Manager for a research infrastructure called Brain Circuit Analysis (BCA). In this position your main task will be to act as the operational manager of a laboratory for in vivo brain recordings from rodents based on microelectrode or neuropixel probes as well as optical miniscope technology. You may take part in the initial data collection as well as required preprocessing steps required for further data analysis. You may also assist in the collection of behavioral data in conjunction with neurophysiological your role as platform manager you will introduce and guide new users and attend to the maintenance and well-functioning of the equipment In summary you will have quite an important role in introducing and supporting researchers at MultiPark to state-of-the-art in vivo neurophysiological techniques and help expand the experimental toolbox for studies focused on brain circuit analysis and neuronal dynamics in health and disease.
Your primary duties and responsibilities will include:
- maintain and secure continued performance of the platform in collaboration with the managing team
- managing booking lists; communicating with users and equipment suppliers when needed;
- introduce and provide tutorials to new users;
- help construct and implant components required for chronic recordings/manipulations in rats and mice such as microelectrode arrays GRIN lenses and other light guides optical windows cannulae etc.
- assist in acquisition of brain activity data in freely behaving rodents
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- PhD in medicine natural sciences or neurotechnology.
- Documented experience in performing in vivo neurophysiological recordings in animals using microelectrodes neuropixel probes or optical recordings techniques.
- Documented experience in assembling the above mentioned recording instruments and the associated hardware-software.
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Ability to independently prioritize tasks while meeting external deadlines in a calm and structured
Strong emphasis will be placed on personal attributes. The role requires excellent collaboration skills and a service-oriented mindset together with a keen interest in finding technical improvements and solutions to experimental problems. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential as is a genuine interest in supporting researchers.
Preferred qualifications:
- Previous experience of in vivo electrophysiology in freely moving rodents.
- Prior experience of using miniscope technology or two-photon imaging in a chronic setting.
- Own research production in areas relevant to MultiPark (especially if it has resulted in first-author publications).
Additional Information
The position is a 50% fixed-term employment for one year starting no earlier than October 1 2026 or by agreement. Top-ranked candidates will be invited to an interview at Lund University approximately 23 weeks before the final decision is made.
