Master thesis – Technical evaluation of a novel fatigue test method for high-strength steel components

The assignment

The assignment focuses on fatiguetesting ofcomponents made of high-performance steels.You will learn abouta special fatiguetestingmethod andequipment andcarry out tests on different specimens and materials to benchmark the test method and map its capabilities.You will perform both experimental hands-on work as well as theoretical work and data analysis.By the end of the assignment you will havegained hands-on experience with a new testing methodexpanded yourknowledge of fatigue of metalsand improved your technical understanding.

Your profile

We are looking for a mastersstudentinMaterials Science Applied PhysicsorMechanicalEngineeringwithastrong interestin metallurgy and materials development. You have knowledge of the relationship between structure and properties in steels and alloys as well as a solid understanding of solid mechanics. Knowledge from courses orpreviousexperiencewithinelectronics and electrical devices such as sensors dataacquisitionand computers in general is considered beneficial.Good writtenandspoken communication skillsinSwedish and/orEnglishare.

Your personal qualities are essential for this role. We are looking for someone with strong technical and engineering skills who enjoys working collaboratively and contributing to a team-oriented environment. You are creativeadaptableand curious with the ability to approach challenges from different perspectives and find practicalsolutions. To succeed in this thesis project you take responsibility for your work show accountability in yourassignmentsand have a structured problem-solving mindset.
