About the Role

As a Customer Quality Engineer you will be the key quality contact for leading automotive OEM customers ensuring the highest standards of product quality throughout the product lifecycle.
You will support a diverse portfolio of automotive electronic products including premium audio systems infotainment solutions amplifiers connectivity modules and other advanced vehicle electronics. Working closely with customers manufacturing sites suppliers and engineering teams you will drive root cause analysis implement corrective actions and contribute to continuous quality improvement.

What You Will Do

• Work with multifunctional teams (Operations Manufacturing Engineering Field Service Sales) to drive resolution for product complaints.
• Champion product or component level testing to support failure investigations and determine root cause.
• Conduct/Update risk analyses and track all findings develop Risk Management portfolio as required.
• Responsible for field containment and rework activities at customer locations such as product diagnostic tests assembly line investigations and assembly plant yard-hold management.
• Support and maintain policies and practices related to manufacturing support of 0km issues at customer assembly plants and quality situations related to product application in vehicles.
• Represent Harman at customer meetings conferences and training on behalf of the manufacturing plants and effectively deploy the information throughout the organization ensuring Harman is current with the customers quality policies.
• Analyze compile review and regularly report customer quality metrics such as PPM or QR for 0km performance preparing presentations from quality data for reviews by both Harman and customer management groups.
• Obtain customer approvals for manufacturing process change(s) by providing supporting data for the change(s) and submitting to customer in their required format.
• Lead problem analysis and improvement efforts by applying the use of modern quality tools such as FMEA 8D Kaizen Lean Manufacturing principles and Six-Sigma methodologies.
• Ensure information flow related to customer returns to appropriately address design (hardware and software) manufacturing packaging and logistics causes and facilitating awareness of issues and deploy countermeasures as lessons learned (Yokoten).
• Support APQP activities with customer and Harman manufacturing to facilitate PPAP submission according to customer schedule.
• Liaison between customer and Harman coordinating activities of internal and external resources serving as resource for problem solving by initiating actions to address issues and prevent potential quality problems.
• Assist internal and external contacts to resolve product and process problems investigating and solving manufacturing-related problems.
• Champion continuous improvement efforts; researches recommends implements and administers new and/or existing quality assurance processes.
• Complete other projects and activities as assigned by Customer Quality Leader.

What You Need

• Bachelors degree with a preference for Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5 years of experience in automotive quality.
• Knowledge of the principles and procedures related to Manufacturing Quality Engineering electronic & mechanical manufacturing statistical process control (SPC) problem solving and automotive production part approval process (PPAP)
• Experience using AIAG guidelines (APQP PPAP PFMEA).
• Practical problem solving using: 8D A3 Fault Tree Analysis Pareto 3L-5Y Is-Is Not Fish Bone etc.

What is Nice to Have

• 3 years of experience with automotive electronics audio and/or infotainment preferred.
• Familiar with CANALYZER / flash scripting hardware and / or software experience.
• Masters Degree in Mechanical Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
• ISO 14001 and TS 16949 experience.
• Certifications/Licenses:ASQ CQE Six Sigma Green Belt.
• Ability to specify develop and operate specialized equipment used for product analysis.
• Ability to calculate and analyze data generate reports.
