The research group Genetic Occupational and Environmental Medicine is located within the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and focuses on the role of environmental factors in health by integrating genetic and molecular approaches with epidemiological and register-based studies. The group is led by Professor Karin Broberg. The research team consists of approximately ten members from different parts of the world and is based at Medicon Village in Lund.

Duties and responsibilities
The position involves coordinating and working in register-based and molecular epidemiological projects studying the relationships between occupational and environmental exposures (such as chemical exposure) and health as well as associated mechanisms based on biomarkers.
The role includes:
- Developing and advancing current research areas
- Writing research grant applications
- Conducting field studies
- Performing laboratory work
- Statistical data analysis
- Writing scientific articles including systematic reviews
- Writing popular science articles
- Project management
Qualifications
Requirements:
- PhD in biomedicine biology or medicine
- Documented experience in molecular biological analysis
- Documented experience working with register- and biobank-based data
- Documented experience of statistical analysis and scientific writing
- Proficiency in R or Stata
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong collaborative skills within research teams
Merits:
- Experience in research on metals and organic chemicals
- Experience in project management and fieldwork
Scientific expertise within the relevant field is the primary selection criterion. The evaluation will consider research profile experience and knowledge.
Additional information
This is a permanent full-time position (100%) starting on 1 September 2026 or as agreed.
