Senior Sustainability Consultant
Job Summary
Join AECOMs BP Sustainable Design Team and play a leading role in delivering sustainable resilient and low-carbon solutions across a diverse portfolio of international projects. Based in Madrid you will provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams helping clients achieve ambitious sustainability goals while supporting the growth and development of our Sustainable Design practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of sustainability decarbonisation and net-zero carbon strategies for major building and urban development projects.
- Provide technical leadership in environmental analysis building performance modelling embodied carbon Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and whole-life carbon studies.
- Guide multidisciplinary teams in integrating sustainability objectives into projects from concept through delivery championing data-driven parametric and computational design approaches.
- Manage sustainability workstreams across multiple projects overseeing project delivery quality assurance budgets programmes and client relationships.
- Lead the preparation and review of technical reports sustainability strategies certification submissions and client presentations.
- Contribute to the growth of the Sustainable Design practice through mentoring innovation thought leadership proposals and business development activities
Qualifications :
Education
- Degree in Architecture Environmental Engineering Mechanical Engineering Sustainability or a related discipline.
- Masters degree in Sustainability Environmental Design Building Physics or a similar field preferred.
Experience
- Proven experience in sustainable design environmental consultancy building performance analysis or a related field typically 8-10 years.
- Proven experience leading sustainability strategies and delivering complex building and/or masterplanning projects from concept through delivery.
- Proven experience managing project delivery technical quality client engagement and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience contributing to business development proposals and strategic growth initiatives.
Technical Knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of low-carbon design building physics environmental performance assessment climate-responsive design and decarbonisation strategies.
- Strong experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) embodied carbon analysis whole-life carbon assessment and carbon reduction strategies.
- Experience with environmental modelling and simulation tools.
- Experience with parametric design and early-stage design tools particularly Grasshopper is highly desirable. Experience with Python or other scripting languages is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of sustainability certification schemes and frameworks such as LEED BREEAM WELL Passivhaus or equivalent.
