Senior Engineer T&D Overhead Transmission Lines

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer - T&D Overhead Transmission Lines to join our growing Transmission & Distribution team. The successful candidate will play a leading technical role in the design and delivery of high-voltage and extra-high voltage overhead transmission line projects worldwide supporting the expansion reinforcement and modernization of electrical networks associated with the energy transition.

This position requires extensive experience in overhead transmission line engineering including route alignment line design mechanical and electrical studies and multidisciplinary coordination. The Principal Engineer will act as a technical authority within the team leading complex engineering tasks reviewing design deliverables mentoring engineers and ensuring the highest standards of technical quality throughout project delivery.

The role offers the opportunity to participate in major international transmission infrastructure projects across multiple regions and regulatory environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Transmission Line Engineering and Technical Leadership

         Lead the engineering of HV/EHV overhead transmission lines typically ranging from 110kV to 400kV

         Develop and review route alignments tower spotting studies conductor and earth wire selection insulation coordination and line clearances.

         Lead advanced modelling and design activities using PLS-CADD.

         Perform and review complex line design studies and ensure compliance with client specifications and industry standards.

         Coordinate with civil teams regarding tower loading requirements and foundation design.

• Transmission Line Calculations and Technical Studies

         Perform and review key electrical and mechanical transmission line calculations including:

o   Sag-tension calculations.

o   Conductor blowout studies.

o   Electrical clearance verification.

o   Thermal ampacity assessments.

o   Corona and radio interference studies.

o   Shielding and lightning performance evaluations.

o   Load tree generation and tower loading analysis.

         Engineering analysis is typically performed using PLS-CADD TOWER or PLS-POLE.

• Project Delivery and Coordination

         Lead engineering work packages within multidisciplinary transmission projects.

         Coordinate activities with structural geotechnical environmental and power system engineering teams.

         Support project managers in planning engineering activities and managing technical risks.

         Contribute to technical proposals fee estimates and resources planning.

• Technical Review and Mentoring

         Review drawings models calculations and technical reports produced by other engineers.

         Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and senior engineers.

         Promote engineering excellence best practices and continuous improvement within the team.

         Support the development of internal procedures and technical standards.

• Construction and Site Support

Provide technical support during construction activities including:

         Tower erection and foundation works

         Conductor stringing operations

         Resolution of site-related technical issues and field design adjustments

Qualifications :

Mandatory Qualifications

Education

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.

Experience

         Typically 10 years of experience in overhead transmission line engineering.

         Proven experience working on HV/EHV transmission line projects (110kV 400kV)

         Advanced experience with PLS-CADD

         Practical experience using TOWER

         Experience delivering projects through feasibility concept detailed design and construction support phases.

         Experience reviewing technical deliverables and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities.

         Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

         Experience with PLS-POLE

         Experience in underground transmission cable projects

         Familiarity with CYMCAP for cable ampacity analysis

         Experience working on international transmission projects

         Knowledge of IEC IEEE EN and utility-specific standards

         Experience with UK European Middle East or North American transmission utilities

         Ability to lead complex technical discussions.

         Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

         Ability to mentor engineers and support technical growth within the team.

         Ability to work effectively within international and multidisciplinary environments.
