Senior Architect, Data Centre Design Engineering

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Architect to join its Data Centre Design Team in Dublin Ireland.

As a Senior Architect at AWS you will lead designs for AWS Data Centres in our Europe Middle East & Africa (EMEA) geography and impact other projects around the world. You will be part of a highly creative and efficient design team comprised of Architects Engineers and Designers tasked with solving problems and challenging the status quo. As a subject matter expert you will have a direct impact on the design of prototypical DC facilities provide technical guidance solve large scale implementation issues and be responsible for Architectural design requirements.

Key job responsibilities
Communicate conceptual designs and create/maintain project documentation before during and after construction; Develop & maintain Basis of Design prototype design and template specifications for Architectural elements;
Creating and tracking metrics related to cost quality and duration of design as well as collecting data from construction and commissioning teams as designs are implemented. Establishing capital project design budgets and contributing to complex business cases for existing region and new region deployment. Collaborating with AWS finance teams to secure funding for projects;
Working in partnership with AWS Engineering leads to schedule engineering resources and influence design changes based on internal customer needs;
Partnering with internal customers to establish project scope schedule and deliverables. Create review and release design RFPs. Manage our external design consultants through the design and construction process. Coordinate with internal and external Mechanical Electrical Controls and Cabling design engineers;
Think outside of the box to find innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce costs without negative impacts on quality or reliability. Travel for site assessments internal design meetings construction review and interfacing with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%;

- Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers power generation or oil and gas facilities
- Experience researching new designs technologies and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
- Professional Engineering or Architectural License
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration development and into deployment or mass production
- Experience as technical specialist in design and architecture

- Experience in data center design construction operations or facility maintenance
