The opportunity
CSIRO Publishing is Australias leading science publisher delivering high-quality journals books eBooks training programs advertising products and sponsorship opportunities that support the dissemination of trusted scientific knowledge. We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Sales and Business Development Officer to help drive commercial growth strengthen customer relationships and identify new business opportunities across our diverse publishing portfolio.
Reporting to the Head of Sales and Marketing the Sales and Business Development Officer will support the growth and commercial success of CSIRO Publishing through customer account management sales prospecting renewals and retention activities and the development of new business opportunities.
You will work closely with customers libraries universities research organisations government agencies and industry stakeholders helping them access and maximise the value of CSIRO Publishing products and services.
Success in this role will come from your ability to build strong customer relationships identify sales opportunities maintain a healthy sales pipeline and contribute to revenue growth through a consultative and customer-centric approach.

Your high-level duties will include:
- Managing and maintaining relationships with existing customers providing responsive and professional support across the customer lifecycle.
- Responding accurately and promptly to customer enquiries about products subscriptions pricing licensing arrangements and delivery options.
- Supporting customer retention renewals account growth cross-selling and upselling activities.
- Identifying and researching prospective customers institutions and organisations aligned with CSIRO Publishing products and services.
- Building and maintaining a pipeline of sales opportunities through proactive outreach and customer engagement.
- Preparing tailored proposals quotations product information and sales materials for prospective and existing customers.
- Supporting advertising and sponsorship sales activities across CSIRO Publishing platforms and products.
- Maintaining accurate customer sales and pipeline information within CRM systems and assisting with sales reporting.

Salary:AU$76k AU$96k per annum (pro rata for part-time) plus 15.4% superannuation

As the successful candidate you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in sales account management customer service or business development in a B2B environment.
- Experience preparing customer proposals quotations presentations and sales support materials.
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships and identify opportunities to grow customer engagement and sales.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience using CRM systems and maintaining accurate sales and customer records.
- Demonstrated ability to research and identify prospective customers and contribute to sales pipeline development.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated initiative attention to detail and a customer-focused approach.
